Birdwatching

Whether it is summer, autumn, winter or spring: bird watching on Texel is possible all year round. The great thing about bird watching on 'our' island is:
You can do it with impunity. The birds don't seem to care that you are violating their privacy on all sides. Birds are actually very easy animals. You don't have to be a professional, at most you need patience. And binoculars. Birds are everywhere. The bird working group has mapped 48 places on the island in Google Maps and has listed which birds you can find there. You can also see them everywhere outside these places. Great spotted woodpeckers in back gardens and a sparrowhawk in the pine trees along a walking path. On Texel, we are no longer surprised by anything when it comes to birds.

Dark Sky Texel

Prins Hendrik is located in one of the darkest places in the Netherlands and we really mean dark. The perfect place to experience the darkness. With clear weather you can see the Milky Way and with a bit of luck even the Northern Lights

Cycling on Texel

Ready for an active weekend away? Come cycling on the beautiful Texel! With more than 140 km of cycle paths, this island is a great place to discover by bike. Cycle through the National Park, to the Lighthouse or just around the island.
