TEXEL’S POLDER HET NOORDEN
Silence. Nights that are truly pitch-dark still. Quiet. Space. Birds. These describe polder Het Noorden in a nutshell.
The location of Prins Hendrik offers amazing bicycle- and footpaths and offers a gorgeous view on the Waddensea behind the green dike. Intimate and small beaches at less than 10 minutes by bicycle. Walking, swimming, enjoying the sunshine. Clearing your head. Looking for shells. Gazing over the sea ….
Bird Walhalla Utopia is Texel’s’ most important bird sanctuary on the inner side of the dike. In this creek area, which came alive in 2010 with the aid of Natuurmonumenten (Society for preservation of nature monuments in the Netherlands) and the Texelers, is where all species of bird that dwell in the Waddenarea gather together. Terns, sanderlings, reed warblers and western marsh herriers are amongst them. They forrage and feed their adorable young.
The foot- and cyclepath on the out- and inside of the dike meanders to the neighbouring village of De Cocksdorp. Alongside this path you’ll find conservation area De Schorren and World Heritage site the Waddensea.
Closest villages (and shops): Oosterend and De Cocksdorp (at appr. 5 kilometres from Prins Hendrik)
