Getting Here

The ferry
  • The double-decker ferry to Texel departs at least once an hour from Den Helder, just 80 km north of Amsterdam.

  • The first ferry leaves at 6:30 AM, and the last one at 9:30 PM.

  • The crossing takes only 20 minutes. It is not possible, nor necessary, to reserve a place for the ferry, but you can purchase an e-ticket in advance.

  • During periods of high demand, an extra ferry is added, and crossings are made every half hour.

By car
  • Prins Hendrik is easily accessible by car. From the ferry terminal

  • follow the signs towards Oosterend (exit 10).

  • At De Waal, take a left at the roundabout, then turn right onto Zaandammerdijk and take Schorrenweg.

  • At the end of the road, you’ll see Prins Hendrik on your right, where you will take two quick right turns in succession.

Public transport
  • From Den Helder station, take bus line 33 to the ferry.

  • You will be dropped off at the TESO ticket office, where you can buy a return ticket for the ferry. You then board the ferry on foot.

  • Would you like to continue traveling by bus on Texel? After disembarking on the right-hand side of the ferry, travelers heading to Den Burg or De Koog can use the regular bus line 28.

  • For all other destinations, you can take the smaller Texelhopper buses, which must be reserved in advance.
