MAP & ROUTE TO PRINS HENDRIK
The sounds of terns, Eurasian oystercatchers and harriers. The smell of the Waddensea enrolling its waves behind the green dike at less than 20 metres from the hotel. The milling wings of the mill, silently removing the surplus of water out of the polder. Taste and experience the island life here. Wake up to the sound of birds and rippling waves. In a place where the sea almost embraces you.
BY BOAT
In Den Helder, only fifty miles north of Amsterdam, the double decker ferry sails every hour to Texel. The crossing only takes twenty minutes. It is not necessary (or possible) to reserve a place on the ferry; but you can buy an e-ticket. During busy periods there are two ferries per hour.
BY CAR
Prins Hendrik can easily be reached by car. From the ferry port follow the signs towards Oosterend (exit 10). At De Waal, turn left at the roundabout and on the Zaandammerdijk turn right into the Schorrenweg. At the end of the road you will see Prins Hendrik in front of you and you will turn right twice in quick succession.
PARKING
There is sufficient parking space at the hotel.
Alternative parking facilities:
Are you on Texel by car? Then buy a Texel e-vignette for carefree park. You can buy this digital parking receipt online. As of January 1, 2017, Texel will implement paid parking in all villages and at the entrances to the beach. You can buy a Texel e-vignette for a day, a week or a year.
How it works
Enter your license plate number via www.texelevignet.nl, choose the desired parking period and pay. The traffic wardens scan on license plate numbers and check for what period you have purchased a Texel e-vignette. The e-vignette is for sale online and at the parking meters.
Cheaper
For a single ticket you pay € 2.50 per hour at the parking meter (NOT possible to use coins). A Texel e-vignette costs € 10.00 per day, € 20 per week or € 30 per year (valid from 1/12/2018 till 1/2/2020). Paid parking applies from Monday through Saturday from 09.00 – 18.00 hours. At a limited number of locations parking time is restricted to 2 hours. Here you use the blue parking disc (in combination with the e-vignette or valid parking ticket).
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From Den Helder station, take bus line 33 to the boat. This bus leaves 12 minutes past every hour and is coordinated exactly with the schedule of the boat. You will be dropped off at the ticket counter for the TESO ferry. You can then board the boat after you buy a round trip ticket. Want to continue with a bus when you reach Texel? Then leave the boat on the right-hand side. Travelers for Den Burg and De Koog can take bus line 28. If you have another destination, then you can take a Texelhopper mini-bus. These buses have to be reserved in advance.
